Wyandotte Woods and Caves

The Scenic Route then follows State Road 62 and enters Crawford County. Here we stopped and visited Wyandotte Woods and Caves. These magnificent caves were discovered by a family, after their animals began falling into holes and disappearing! The caves and woods are now owned by the State of Indiana, and can be explored through tours and spelunking tours. There are two caves here, one small and one larger. The Little Wyandotte tour takes only 30 minutes, and is narrated a by helpful guide. There is also a guided tour of the big cave, which takes an hour and a half. For the more adventurous, there are spelunking tours with challenging climbs and crawls, lasting up to seven hours. Campers, hikers and horseriders will also find these activities at nearby Wyandotte Woods State Recreational Area. <see our Crawford County pages>
