Banks of the Wabash Barbershop Chorus - Harmony Hall, 1257 Lafayette Avenue. (812) 232-4926. This popular group of male vocalists, also available for private bookings, perform several public shows each year. Visitors and singers interested in joining the group may attend rehearsals, starting at 7:30 p.m. most Tuesdays in Harmony Hall. The barbershop chorus annual show is scheduled for Tilson Music Hall on the Indiana State University campus.

Children's Theatre of Terre Haute - (812) 237-3031. In its 63rd year, the Children's Theatre of Terre Haute offers two annual performances featuring local children and one performance by a traveling group. Past performances have included classics such as "The Hobbit", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "The Prince and the Pauper." Season tickets are available. Call for information about auditions. Community Theatre of Terre Haute Inc. - Weldin Talley Memorial Playhouse. 1431 S. 25th Street. (812) 232-7172. The second-oldest amateur theater in the state, Community Theatre celebrates its 72nd season in 1999-2000. In October 1998, the theater opened its doors following $1 million in renovations. Community Theatre offers a varied program of plays, musicals and international films.

Hulman Center - 200 N. Eighth Street. (812) 237-3770 or (812) 237-3737. Web site: web.indstate.edu/hctaf/. Educational conferences, conventions, concerts, stage shows, sporting events, banquets and dances are only a few reasons for visiting Hulman Center. The arena is home court for the Indiana State University Sycamores basketball teams. Broadway plays, concerts and nationally known performers are regularly featured. Seating capacity in the arena ranges from 2,600 to 11,000 with the event dictating the configuration.

Indiana State University - ISU offers a variety of arts and entertainment events throughout the year. A listing of campus events by day and month is available from their web site. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology - 5500 Wabash Avenue. (812) 877-8418. You may not associate an engineering school with fabulous arts and entertainment, but that's exactly what you'll find at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Standing-room-only crowds attend performances of the Fine Arts Series, which brings a wide range of entertainment, including concerts. The talents of Rose-Hulman faculty, staff and students are showcased each year during Engineers in Concert. Theater performances by the student drama club also provide an entertaining evening.

St. Mary-of-the-Woods College -(812) 535-5212. Long-known for its history of performing arts, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College offers several musical and theater performances each year. The annual "Christmas at the Woods" is a madrigal dinner theater celebrating the holiday season. An annual spring concert also is offered by the Madrigals and SMWC Chorale, who have performed throughout the country. In addition, the SMWC Theater Area produces two student-performed plays each year.

Sweet Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus - (812) 299-9728. A nonprofit group of volunteers, this women's chorus performs for special events. All women are invited to join the chorus for rehearsals on Monday nights.

Terre Haute Choral Society - (812) 232-0650. Web site: mama.indstate.edu/users/swarens/funa.htm. This community music group is open to anyone in the community who is interested in singing. The society traditionally presents two concerts per year - one in December and another in spring. A community Messiah Sing-Along also is conducted during the holiday season.

Terre Haute Community Band - (812) 232-0491. Web site: web.indstate.edu/community/thch/. This group of professional and amateur musicians, founded in 1985, performs free concerts in Fairbanks Park during the summer. Music ranges from classical to show tunes, novelties, solo features and the newest modern band literature. Participation is open to any high school or adult band musician.

Terre Haute Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra - (812) 299-2659. Web site: web.indstate.edu/community/sinfon/. Sixty professional and semi-professional musicians perform two pops concerts each year at the Scottish Rite Temple. Music includes light classical, country, Broadway show tunes and movie melodies. Open to local orchestral musicians by approval of the conductor. Audition may be required.

Professional musicians offer an annual season of concerts, including an old-fashioned concert in the park in September, performances at Indiana State University's Tilson Auditorium and other locations. Nationally and internationally known artists perform with the orchestra.
