Abington General Store - 6776 Abington Pike, Abington. Listed on the Indiana Historical Landmark Foundation, circa 1840, the old time country store offers a few antiques, pottery and homemade pies served with a side order of memories. Gaar Mansion - 2593 Pleasant View Road, Richmond. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Gaar Mansion was built in 1876 for Abram and Agnes Gaar. Original cost to build the mansion was $20,000. Complete interior/exterior restoration of this Victorian style mansion boasts hand-painted ceilings, parquet wood floors, and features many original furnishings with their actual bills of sale. Historic Centerville - A historic village of charming inns and intriguing antique and specialty shops. Centerville was an important stop along the National Road in the 19th century. As many as 200 wagons a day passed through Centerville providing livelihood to the inns, wagon shops, saddle shops and tanneries. Huddleston Farmhouse Inn Museum - PO Box 384, US 40 West, Cambridge City. Built in 1839-41 when the National Road was young, the Huddleston Farmhouse Inn Museum today includes the restored farmhouse, springhouse, smokehouse and barn. The museum displays the way of life of an early Hoosier farming family and the experience of westward travelers who stopped for food and shelter. (765) 478-3172

Indiana Football Hall of Fame - 815 North "A" Street, Richmond. Dedicated to the sport and its Indiana heroes, the Football Hall of Fame features displays and memorabilia from Indiana high school, collegiate and professional athletes. Your personal tour guide could be Lamar Lundy! (765) 966-2235

Joseph Moore Museum, Earlham College - US 40 West, Richmond. An Egyptian mummy and giant prehistoric mammals captivate audiences of all ages. See a prehistoric mastodon, allosaurus skeletons and observe birds and mammals in their natural habitat. Gift shop. (765) 983-1303

Levi Coffin House - US 27 North, Fountain City. A part of the legendary Underground Railroad for fleeing slaves of pre-Civil War days, this registered National Historic Landmark is a Federal style brick home built in 1839. Museum: (765) 847-2432, Volunteer: (765) 847-2076

Madonna of the Trail - entrance of Glen Miller Park, US 40 East, Richmond. In commemoration of pioneer mothers of the covered wagon days, this statue is the ninth link in the Great National Shrine erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution along the National Road Trail. There are only 12 statues linked along US 40 from Cumberland, Maryland, to Upland, California.

Museum of Overbeck Art Pottery - 33 West Main Street, Cambridge City. Overbeck Pottery, produced between 1911 and 1955, is recognized as an important part of our national art history. The museum preserves the creative art of the six Overbeck sisters who lived and worked in Cambridge City, Indiana. (765) 478-3335

Nettle Creek Valley Museum - 96-1/2 East Main Street, Hagerstown. Once a public hall built in 1880. this museum features frescoed wall murals painted by local artist Charles L. Newcomb in 1913. Other exhibits include local native American history, birth of an early canal town, industrial heritage and much more. (765) 489-4005

Old National Road - Welcome Center, 5701 National Road East, Richmond. The Old National Road was America's first interstate highway established by an act of Congress in 1806. The Indiana portion was built between 1829 and 1834, linking the eastern seashore with the western interior. In 1996, the Old National Road was designated as a State Scenic Route. Driving the route evokes a sense of traveling through the passageways of history from historic architecture and early nineteenth century farms to nostalgic gas stations, historic monuments and genuine Midwestern scenic beauty. Old Richmond Historic District - 5701 National Road History, Richmond. With more than 312 structures of historic importance, this neighborhood was first settled by members of the Society of Friends, later by free blacks and German immigrants. Enrolled on the National Register of Historic Places, several significant structures were catalogued by the Historic American Buildings Survey. Richmond Art Museum - 350 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond. Established in 1898, this is the only public art museum in the US to be housed in an operating high school. Two galleries exhibit permanent collections specializing in Indiana art. Two other galleries offer fascinating exhibitions from regional, national and international artists. (765) 966-0256

Scott House - 126 North 10th Street, Richmond. Located in the Starr Historic District, the Scott House is one of Indiana's great early Victorian is one of Indiana's great early Victorian homes. The design is a cubical town villa of Italianate style, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Historic American Building Survey. Starr Historic District - 5701 National Road East, Richmond. Prior to the Civil War, Richmond was a prosperous center of the farm implement industry with an elegant north side residential neighborhood called the Starr District. Wayne County Historical Museum - 1150 North "A" Street, Richmond. The Julia Meek Gaar collection features curiosities from around the world: authentic Egyptian mummy; Davis airplane; Wooten desk; pioneer life exhibits; the early automobile collection of Richmond-made cars and much, much more!
