Harmonie State Park [RR 1 Box 5A (812) 682-4821; cabin reservations (812) 682-4400] - 465 acres, 7.5 miles hiking/biking trails, 3.5 miles horse trails, pool/water slide, 200 Class A campsites, 90 youth tent areas, 150 site family campground and cabins. Hovey Lake - 4,298 acres, bald cypress trees, 48 Class campsites, picnic/playground area, hunting/fishing, boat ramps to Ohio River. Twin Swamps Nature Preserve - most northern bald cypress and other overcup oak slough, located near Hovey Lake. Brittlebank Park, is located on 56 acres within the city limits and includes an olympic-sized pool with a wading pool for toddlers. There are four shelter houses, tennis courts, a jogging trail, baseball diamonds, a 1.54 acre fishing lake and a playground. The pool is open daily from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. weather permitting, beginning Memorial Day to Labor Day. Sherburne Park, is located on South Main Street and offers a public boat launch, a scenic view of the Ohio River and playground equipment.
