Built c. 1895 by Judge Samuel McGregor, our 3-story brick and stone Romanesque Revival home invites you to step back in time to a more restful era. The McGregor House is located in a National Historic District on a quiet, tree-lined street, only four blocks from downtown and many antique malls and shops.
Each of the two guest rooms and two elegant suites have private baths. The house is beautifully appointed with antiques, oriental rugs, and a baby grand piano. Enjoy your full gourmet breakfast in the parlor or on our spacious curved front veranda.
The McGregor House is located near many attractions and festivals:
- downtown antique malls
- only 10 miles from Parke County's nationally-known Covered Bridge Festival (October)
- Brazil's Christmas in the Park and 4th of July celebrations
- 45 minutes from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Circle Center Mall, Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts
- 15 minutes from Terre Haute's Hulman Center, Indiana State University and Rose Hulman University. Special packages are available for some events.

The McGregor Suite
...With its Scottish heritage clearly defined in the décor, this suite features a sitting room with ornately carved fireplace, curved glass windows, and plush loveseat. A queen-sized brass bed, quilt rack with handmade quilt, and an antique birdseye maple dresser are complimented by the green and gold décor. The spacious bathroom features a clawfoot tub as well as a shower.
The Arts (Penthouse) Suite
...This full-floor suite features a birdseye view of the area from both the spacious sitting room and the bedroom. A beautiful bath completes the suite. Works by Indiana authors, artists, and musicians are featured. This suite has a TV and mini-refrigerator, and is perfect for a romantic getaway or honeymoon.
The Victorian Room
...Done in Victorian shades of rose, this room captures the romance of the time with its Queen Anne bedroom suite and antique furnishings. The spacious private bath with shower and tub features original art.
The European Room
...Heirlooms from France, Germany, England, Belgium, and other European countries are the focus of this beautiful room and private bath. Take a trip around the world; read an original London Sun newspaper from 1793, or enjoy an heirloom French doll sent to Susan from French family friends in 1956. A fascinating evening can be spent exploring this room.

...Explore and enjoy the selection of old books and new novels in our Library sitting area, located at the top of the Grand Staircase on the second floor.

...Overstuffed chairs and couches invite you to enjoy an evening of cookies, beverages, (and even a television is available here!).
The Gym
...A full gymnasium (attached to the house) with basketball court and exercise equipment is available to our guests at posted hours.
Reservations and Rates:
- We accept personal checks, traveler's checks or cash.
- 50% deposit is requested when the reservation is made, which is 90% refundable if reservation is canceled at least 24 hours before intended stay.
- Check-in is between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., unless prior arrangements are made.
- Check-out is 11:00 a.m.
- Children over 10 are welcome.
- Gift certificates are available.
- Breakfast: A full breakfast is served at your requested time between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know 24 hours in advance.
- Drinks and Snacks are brought to your room early each evening.
- This is a smoke-free environment.
Rates:
Prices per night include room, breakfast for two, and all snacks. A 10% discount is given for stays 5 nights and over. Rates are subject to change, and seasonal rates may apply.
