If you want to see the sites instead of other sightseers when you travel, then you should consider visiting Owen County. The rolling hills and rural countryside of this beautiful part of Indiana provide many awe-inspiring scenes that are not crowded with other tourists. A drive down any random County Road can be as magnificent as the trails in a park.

If it's a park you want though, Owen County has more than it's share. The most popular is McCormick's Creek State Park which is a short drive from Bloomington on US 46. Parts of Lieber State Recreation Area on Cagles Mill (Cataract) Lake are also in Owen County, as is Cataract Falls State Recreation Area. And the Owen-Putnam State Forest can offer plenty of outdoor adventure.

Finally, if you want a taste of genuine small-town life you can find it in any town in the county. Each town or village has it's own distinct character, but they have in common that true Hoosier Hospitality.
